Firefighters balk at plan to hire CCC youths overbacks
Sacramento firefighters protest a state plan that would replace veteran 18 to 31 year old workers with California Conservation Corps recruits. The move would idle over 200 workers, many from Ecology Corps, amid a rule limiting CCC eligibility to ages 18 to 20. Leroy Chatfield seeks 10 CCC hires per senator or representative.
