No Hope for New School Funds in California Says Riles
Sacramento UPI Wilson C. Riles said California schools will get little if any new state money this year and districts must wait until 1972 73. He cited the State Supreme Court ruling striking down local property tax financing and warned the 1971 legislature unlikely to pass a major aid bill. He aims for at least a cost of living appropriation of 100 million and proposes a long range finance committee to present a package when the 1972 session begins.
