Pioneers Celebrate 50th Annual Lompoc Reunion

About 350 pioneers attended the 50th annual Lompoc Pioneer Society reunion at Ryan Park. Jessie Ramming presided, gavel passed to 1977 president Leroy Begg, and Thomas Benton Lewis II became vice president. The Begg and Lewis families traced arrivals in 1888 and 1883, with class reunions from Lompoc High School and pageantry including a plaque unveiling for Artesia Schoolhouse as County Landmark 3. The event featured tea hosted by Native Daughters of the Golden West and a later coin show at Lom poc Grange Hall with prizes and a food concession by Orange ladies.
