Corningman chosen new hospital administrator

Toxic-laden truck leak prompts evacuations near Lompoc
A tanker carrying 35,000 gallons of nitrogen tetroxide leaked from the rear flange near Highway 1 five miles south of Lompoc. Evacuations were ordered for Cabral, Romain and Turner ranches and a Vandenberg AFB fireman was hospitalized as a precaution. Air Force technicians mitigated the spill and moved the truck to base as the investigation continued.

Deadly midair collision over Yugoslavia kills 171
