Four Israeli women freed by Syria in hijack rescue
Syria released four Israeli women who were aboard the hijacked TWA plane to Damascus. The women flew out on an Alitalia jet en route to Athens, while four TWA executives stayed behind to discuss the incident with Syrian authorities. The Israeli men detained in Damascus remained. Israel rejected any bargaining and reinforced security for its airports amid tensions.

Jaycee of the Month Dave Ecret Aids Lompoc Youth Center
SSgt. Dave Ecret a Vandenberg base hospital lab tech and part time radio announcer was named July Jaycee of the Month by the Lompoc Jaycees for chairing the Youth Center Committee. He plans a youth center for Ryan Park with Parks and Recreation backing. Ecret, 27, also serves in the Lions Club and led a Flower Festival parade division. He and wife Ruth live on N O Street with two children and he spends about 60 hours monthly on community projects.

Colonel George Pfeiffer Jr. vice commander of the 1st Strategic Aerospace Division retires after 30 years of service. Maj. Gen.
