Employment growth tapers off in California in 1974
California's employment growth has tapered this year but still outpaces the nation. The Department of Finance reports nonagricultural wage and salary employment rose 2.9 percent in the first nine months of 1974 from a year earlier, while U.S. growth was 2.3 percent. Manufacturing up 2.8 percent versus 0.9 percent nationally. Much of the slowdown stems from a drop in home construction affecting related industries.
