Republican Houston I. Flournoy touts a GOP financed poll showing him within seven points of Democrat Edmund G. Brown Jr. after trailing. The 1,000 voter survey conducted for Flournoy and allies by Decision Making Information found Brown favored by 51 percent to Flournoy's 44, with 5 percent undecided. Flournoy promoted the results during a Bay Area bus tour with events at San Jose State and Santa Clara University and receptions with Charlton Heston.
