County sues state over Isla Vista riot costs
The county files a 1.494 million dollar class action in Los Angeles Superior Court against California and top officials including Gov. Reagan and the state finance director. It argues taxpayers bore riot costs from January to June 1970 after state emergency declarations and National Guard involvement. The suit links university campus unrest to Isla Vista spillover and cites ongoing claims against the county from riot suppression actions.
