The City of Lompoc informs residents that refuse collection will cover the entire city only once this week due to the Veterans Day holiday. Areas normally served on Monday will be picked up on Thursday while Tuesday and Wednesday zones receive adjusted service. regular twice weekly pickup resumes next week.
Odin Goth Buell of La Rancheria near Buellton and member of Buellton’s founding family dies after a 16 month illness. He was born May 27, 1897 on the Buell Ranch later part of the site of Buellton. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery Ballard with Rev. Williams Chalmers officiating. He held a long real estate broker career in Santa Ynez Valley and wrote many oil leases. He is survived by his wife Josephine Thomas a son Dr. James Buell and brothers Glenn and Walter Buell.
CHP will extend its abandoned vehicle cleanup program to federal forest lands in a cooperative effort with the US Forest Service. The USFS will survey 23 million acres and provide CHP with locations of derelict vehicles. Abatement will occur via CHP field offices or contracted local governments. thousands of junked vehicles are estimated.
The Lompoc Republican Women’s Club meets Thursday at noon at Village Country Club to discuss closing stocks propositions on the November 2 ballot. Lunch follows at 12 30 costing 225 per person with reservations via Mrs Harold Hargis. Mrs W Paul Moore leads the ballot discussion. committee chairs for Ford are announced with Mrs Glenn Ballantyne and Caroline Schultz to chair the Lompoc committee.
