Air Force tests airborne Minuteman missile drop over Pacific

The 86 000 pound Minuteman was rolled from a C5A over Vandenberg California and ignited in flight for ten seconds before parachuting to 20 000 feet and then flying upward to 20 000 feet. The test aimed to see if missiles could be dropped from aircraft and ignited in flight. The Pentagon denied any link to Moscow talks and said no guidance system was involved.

Weather Outlook with Tides Through Monday

Variable clouds with generally fair weather through Saturday and little temperature change. Highs in the 60s to 70s, lows in the 40s to 50s, light winds. Tides include Saturday high tides of 4.2 and 4.7 feet, and low tides of 1.3 and 1.0 feet. Sunday and Monday add further high tides around 4.2 to 5.3 feet and lower lows, with times noted.
