Over One Million Quit Smoking in 1968
A UPI report notes HEW data showing more than one million Americans quit cigarettes in 1968. The Census based findings cite rising quit rates among both older and younger groups, with women less likely to quit than men and a growing never-smoker share among youth. The coming HEW release details declines in per-person consumption and rising former smoker counts.
