Pentagon awards 27 million contract for airborne photo recon

The Pentagon awarded Northrop Corp. a 27 million dollar contract to develop a photo reconnaissance system for airplanes. The system would transmit images to base in flight, with potential Army Navy and Air Force purchases running into the hundreds of millions.

Expansion of Billboard Ban Sought in County Zoning Change

California college funds under review by audit committee

Assemblyman Vincent Thomas announced a thorough audit of the 10 campus state college system focusing on auxiliary funds, foundation management and teaching roles. Senate finance panel approves 5 percent minimum income tax

The Senate Finance Committee backed a 5 percent minimum tax on income excluding a $30,000 exemption plus three large-amount loopholes. It taxes both individuals and corporations, raising about $700 million annually, while extending excise taxes on autos and telecom services to Dec 31 1970 to net $1.1 billion in the next fiscal year.
