County Eyes Work Furlough Plan For Santa Barbara Jail

Santa Barbara County considers initiating a limited scale work furlough program for local jail inmates at the County Honor Farm near the Goleta Valley facility. Sheriff Carpenter would lead the program with four officers and an clerk, funding offset by a possible Federal program and a $5 daily board charge, targeting about 25 prisoners for a one year test backed by judges, bar associations, and probation staff.

Bradbury Dam dedication planned in Santa Ynez Valley

County supervisors and former officials will join ceremonies at 2 p.m. at Lake Cachuma Observation Point to dedicate Cachuma Dam as Bradbury Dam honoring C. W. Bradbury who died in 1969 after 21 years as First District supervisor and county water agency chairman. U S Bureau of Reclamation officials and local leaders will attend the event and introduce guests.

John Casson, 58, of 1401 E Airport Ave, suffered a cut on his right leg in a 5:36 p.m. collision with a car driven by Mark Jacobsen, 16, of 1116 E North Ave. Jacobsen backed out of a driveway at East North Ave and Lupine St. Casson was treated at Lompoc Hospital. Jacobsen unharmed.

Seven member panel to review Lompoc personnel rules

Mayor Art Scott announced a seven member committee to review city employe personnel rules.
