Record wins two first place awards at Cal Western convention

Regents Seek Detailed Isla Vista Report On State Program

The University of California board of regents asked UC President Charles Hitch for a thorough update on the Isla Vista community program. A $680,000 two year effort to improve living conditions near UCSB was authorized last year and is now under review.

Allan Hancock College reports fall enrollment at 6568 students

Allan Hancock College announces fall semester enrollment of 6568, up 738 from last year and the highest fall figure in 52 years. The tally includes 3731 in day classes at Vandenberg or Hancock and 2837 in extended day programs across Vandenberg FCI Lompoc and Santa Ynez. Male students outnumber females, with 4268 men and 2300 women enrolled.

Moon Water Detected as Geyser Clouds Erupt on Surface

Rice University scientist Dr. John W Freeman Jr reports lunar geyser activity detected by Apollo 12 and 14 instruments last March 7 lasting about 14 hours. The vapor, 99 percent water, spread over more than 10 square miles near the Oceans of Storms as moon quakes occurred, suggesting subsurface water pockets and potential future lunar bases.
