Grange Convention Opens in Santa Cruz

The California State Grange will hold its 99th annual convention in Santa Cruz from October 18 to 22. About 2,000 members delegates and visitors from across California will vote on the legislative program, elect state officers, and hear guest speakers including Chester Deaver, Robert Frederick, and three California legislators. A Grange Youth program and special sessions mark the five day event at the Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium.

County Planning Commission to vote on four thousand preserve acres

Four thousand preserve acres, including Los Alamos Vineyards and Santa Ynez ranches, are up for approval at the County Planning Commission meeting. Applications include a 1,418 acre Santa Ynez Valley preserve owned by John Vickers Crawford and a 1,439 acre preserve on Christie Miles Phillips property. The agenda also lists preserves for Los Alamos Vineyards, Refugio Canyon Ranch, and Carpinteria Valley sites. A separate public service program, Youth in the 70s, features Lompoc teens questioning law enforcement at KEYT with rebroadcast planned.
