County mulls retroactivity of Santa Rosa Island drilling permits
County Counsel George P eading told Supervisors he cannot yet determine if environmental impact requirements apply retroactively to Mobile Oil’s Santa Rosa Island drilling permits approved last June. The issue, tied to a State Supreme Court ruling, remains in limbo as officials plan a conference on April 19 with state officials and landowners. Mobile Oil contends no impact study is needed while continuing to fund about $1 million in development. drilling has not begun.
