Farm employment rises in California in mid-September
California farm employment reached 362 300 for the week ending Sept 18, a slight rise from a year earlier. Compared with mid August the farming workforce grew by about 28 000, led by grapes with 63 000 workers, and gains in prune tomato almond and fig harvests while peaches pears melons cucumbers plums onions and strawberries declined seasonally.
