Synanon founder accuses state of harassment and conspiracy
Synanon founder Charles Dederich at his Tulare County headquarters announced an internal probe into the state Department of Health. He accused officials of harassing Synanon to force licensing despite a prior AG ruling and ordered Health Department access halted on the property. Dederich sent a report to Gov. Brown seeking intervention and vowed to uncover a possible conspiracy involving attorneys and press. He noted Health and Safety Code exemptions for drug and alcohol recovery houses and cited past county refusals to send juvenile delinquents for rehab.
