Lompoc panel redraws urban limit line near Vandenberg Village
The Advisory Committee for the County General Plan voted 14 to 6 to redraw the urban rural boundary on the west side of Vandenberg Village, trimming about 450 acres from growth potential while keeping 300 acres east of Mission Hills. City officials led by Jack Lam outlined a plan to hold the line west and funnel growth north, plus remove broad commercial zoning around the Wye area. Two subcommittees were formed to study rural and urban land use, with all recommendations to go to the county planning commission.

New construction in unincorporated areas for the first quarter of the fiscal year reached 17.0 million, over a million more than the prior year. Santa Ynez Valley posted a 2.2 million gain, offsetting declines in Lompoc and Santa Maria with county totals of 5.5 million for the quarter and 17.0 million year to date. Lompoc reported 172,700 for September and 929,700 year, Santa Maria 2.9 million for September and 4.9 million year to date, Santa Ynez 1.2 million for September and 4.8 million year to date.
