Cross country has Lompoc at Dos Pueblos at 3 p m and Cabrillo at Yucaipa Invitational with Lompoc Valley Track Club at Oxnard. Saturday adds Youth League opening ceremonies. Washington doctor says girls not more at risk in football

University of Washington team physician Dr James Garrick testified in Grays Harbor County Superior Court that there is no clear evidence that girls incur more injuries than boys in contact football. He noted overlap in ability levels and that about half of women athletes could compete with half of men. The case involves Wishkah Valley High School girls Carol Darrin Delores Tosland and Kathy Tosland challenging the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association for denying them football on an eight man team coached by John Clark.
