Lompoc Band and Drill Team Prep for Two Parades

Lompoc High marching band plans two competition parades in Camarillo and Palmdale with the Drum Major entering a mace contest. The group will display a seven foot banner reading Lompoc Braves and be joined by the Drill Team Flag Twirlers and majorettes. The Symphonic Winds unit debuts this year with 45 players, taking private lessons and aiming for strong showings at spring festivals.

Lockheed Leadership Fund Scholarships Offer Fifteen Awards

Fifteen scholarships, some above ten thousand dollars, are offered again this year by the Lockheed Leadership Fund to qualified high school seniors planning to start college next fall. The awards cover four years of tuition and basic expenses plus five hundred dollars for personal costs. Eligible seniors must be U.S. citizens set to begin college next fall and may apply regardless of race color or sex. Applications hinge on leadership shown through grades and community activity.

Lompoc Juniors Prepare Annual Fashion Show

The Lompoc High Junior class stages the Junior Fashion show on December 11 in the LHS Little Theatre with the Four Seasons theme. Eleven models will walk two seasons each, accompanied by the Lompoc High String Orchestra and Madrigals intermission acts. Proceeds support the junior class and prom funding.

Dance to support center by Lompoc teens this Saturday

Teens at the Lompoc Youth Center in cooperation with the Jaycees host a December 6 dance at Veterans Memorial Hall from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Advanced tickets are $1 at Cooper’s and the Music Box, with door price $1.25. The Grace from Santa Barbara provides the music.

Lompoc High Names Two for American Abroad Semi finals

Lompoc High School will send junior Mark Chambers and senior Leigh Moulton to compete in the Americans Abroad semi final program. The pair undergoes interviews and a judging board along with other national applicants before potential finals in May. If selected, AFS will fund raise through rummage and bake sales and car washes.

Freshman David Cupp Adapts to Cabrillo Life in New U.S. Season

David Kwang Cupp, a three week resident of the United States, adjusts to Cabrillo High School in a bilingual interview. He compares Korean and American schooling, notes uniformed wear in Korea, and discusses courses, typing, photography, and sports including wrestling and karate. He enjoys American food and aims to master English with help from his mother and teachers. He is forming a karate squad and finds Americans friendly overall.
