Segretti says hired to play pranks on Demos
Donald H. Segretti testified before the Senate Watergate Committee that Dwight Chapin hired him in 1971 to sabotage Democratic candidates in primaries. He said he earned about 45 000 dollars for work in about six states and used aliases to avoid revealing his ties to the Nixon campaign. A bomb threat interrupted the hearing, which was adjourned by Chairman Sam Ervin.
