Kreisky Meir Fail to Resolve Soviet Jew Transit Issue

Farm benefit bill vetoed in California
Governor Ronald Reagan vetoed AB255 a farm unemployment benefits bill backed by Cesar Chavez and labor groups. He warned it would raise California food prices while noting federal unemployment insurance for farm laborers had not been enacted. The proposal would have paid up to 75 dollars weekly for 26 weeks to farm workers.

Grand jury transcripts show Ehrlichman testified Nixon ordered the covert operation against Daniel Ellsberg whose office break in triggered the Watergate linked Ellsberg matter. Supervisors form county tax assessment appeals board
The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a three member tax assessment appeals board with two alternates to relieve the county from handling a record number of appeals. About 525 people challenged over 700 parcels this year due to water and sewer hookup moratoriums on the South Coast. The board may begin by mid November and members will be paid 100 dollars per full day and 70 dollars for shorter hearings.
