A condemned killer and two fellow fugitives who freed themselves from Galveston County Jail, killed an escapee, wounded a deputy, and seized hostages were captured three miles west of Flatonia. The trio surrendered as helicopters combed the area and hundreds hunted them. The hostages were unharmed.
