Forest Service to review wilderness expansion plans

The Forest Service released a list of about 2,000 areas covering 66 million acres to be reviewed over the coming year for possible inclusion in the national wilderness system. Most lands are western or Alaskan, with 305 eastern areas totaling 2.3 million acres also included.

Mechanics vote to return to work at Boeing plants

Boeing strikers in Washington Oregon and Kansas and at missile sites nationwide ended a 45 day walkout after IAM AW members approved a 13 percent wage rise over three years by 78 percent. Local 751 reported about 60 members backed the pact five to one while some criticized the deal as not ideal.

Lompoc City Councilwoman Elinor Lefkowitz was elected chair of the fledgling Water Purveyor's Council in Santa Ynez with 14 entities present.
