Gen. Charles de Gaulle died at his Colombey home from a heart attack. His simple funeral was planned with no music or fanfare. Notre Dame in Paris to hold memorial service with leaders including President Nixon attending. He lived in retirement after 1969 vote rejection, and dictated memoirs ending with a simple village funeral as he wished.
