Oilmen await Carter stance as energy plans stay vague
At the API annual convention in San Francisco, oilmen say they will wait to judge President-elect Carter’s energy policy. Frank Ikard notes slow drilling in 1976’s third quarter amid uncertainty, though nine months show a 14.4 percent rise from 1975. Imports rose 15.7 percent in ten months with October at 7.4 million bpd. Carter’s hints of an energy super agency and possible limits on major marketers spark concern and cautious optimism.
