Appeal decision postponed in County Civil Service case
The County Civil Service Commission postponed an executive session after vice-chairman Kenneth Stillman was hospitalized from a fall. The session, initially planned for last week in the County Administration Building, aimed to announce findings in an appeal by Captain Joel Honey and five other Sheriff's Department officers who failed a promotional oral exam. Secretary Glen Cackley said a new date of November 9 was being set. Orville H. Ellis chairs the commission which held a day-long hearing for the captains and lieutenants alleging Sheriff John W. Carpenter's contacts with a three-person oral board could have affected results.
