City Council may study business license changes Tuesday

The June 3 meeting could finalize amendments to the business license ordinance. A committee led by Councilwoman Charlotte Benton began work in October 1967 and proposes shifting all fixed base businesses to a gross receipts payment plan. The council also considers employee insurance, Lookout Point ownership, vaulting a city well, a Pioneer Park concession stand bid, and paving Laurel Avenue near El Camino Elementary School.

Yorty Wins In White Districts Of Los Angeles Mayoral Race

In Los Angeles the mayoral race shows Yorty carrying most white districts while Bradley shines in minority districts. Yorty won 10 of 15 city council districts including all five in the San Fernando Valley, often by about two to one. Bradley performed strongest in districts represented by Negro councilmen. Bradley carried Mills eighth district with 55,539 votes to Yorty’s 7,869.
