Republicans vow to retry action on Reagan budget in Assembly

In Sacramento Republicans pledged another attempt to pass Gov Reagan's 6.2 billion budget as Assembly Democrats hold firm for tax reform and education funding. The bill stalled 37-5 with 54 needed. Porter joined 36 Republicans in support while 33 Democrats did not vote.

Lawyer Seeks New Trial For Sirhan Sirhan

Attorney Grant Chooper prepared a petition to the California Court of Appeals asking a new trial for Sirhan B. Sirhan. The defense chief said the filing would occur today or Thursday. Sirhan, 25, was sentenced to death May 21 for Kennedy assassination and remains on death row at San Quentin. Cooper seeks overturn on two grounds.
