Local couple in Santa Maria injured in car truck crash

ACCIDENT: James George Galanos 81 and his wife Mary 63 were hospitalized with injuries after their car collided with a truck last Friday in Santa Maria. Galanos in serious condition with head injuries, Mary treated for minor injuries and released. AFTERMATH: Linda Marie Mezza 20 was freed on her own recognizance after shooting husband Airman J C Michael Mezza 21. he is in satisfactory condition at Vandenberg AFB Hospital with a chest wound and no fixed release date. MEETING: Lompoc Valley Kennel Club plans a 7:30 p.m. meeting at Continental Mobile Home Park. Public invited.

Douglas raps plans for ouster

Supreme Court Justice William C. Douglas says an Internal Revenue Service probe of the Albert Parvin Foundation is a manufactured case meant to force him off the bench. Parvin, head of the foundation, allowed some records to be shown to the Times to defend the foundation’s actions. IRS agents have investigated for three years, reportedly examining some of Douglas files in Washington. California records the most damaging earthquakes in a century with 62 percent of big tremors from 1865 to 1966, causing 965 deaths and over 666 million dollars in damage.

The Lompoc City Council will hold a short adjourned meeting tomorrow at 11 30 a m in Council Chambers to prepare the city presentation for the County Water Agency meeting at 2 p m in Santa Barbara If time allows City Administrator Gene Wahlers may seek an executive session on salary negotiations for city employees The Lompoc Planning Commission meets tonight at 7 30 p m in City Hall with plans for a Mc Donald restaurant and a bakery on the agenda Both items were carried over from a prior Board of Review meeting due to lack of a quorum
