Bank sponsors award SB County FFA agriscience winners

Security Pacific Bank honored Santa Barbara County high school students for excellence in Future Farmers of America at an Alisal Country Club banquet on May 16. Thirty-one students from Cabrillo Lompoc Righetti Santa Maria and Santa Ynez Valley earned gold or blue certificates under judges Jack Scott and Bob Van Noort.

Insane? Student Hopes Education Reform at Cabrillo High

Bob Fitch a Cabrillo High sophomore questions the current teaching approach calling it insane due to cramming. He served on the Earth Day and Ecology committees and carpenters in church while pursuing varied hobbies. He plans college courses next year and may join Peace Corps if no scholarship, with family at 4245 Rigel.

Lompoc FFA Horticulture Team Captures Six Place Sweep

The Lompoc FFA ornamental horticulture team won the top six spots at a Tri counties meet in Santa Barbara defeating about 200 contestants. Pam Perry led with first place and two prizes. teammates Beckner Gallan Zucker followed with books, Townsend and Campbell tied for fifth. The team trained two days, placing in Paso Robles Santa Maria Fresno and state finals before the Santa Barbara victory.

Best Yearbook at Lompoc Senior High for 29 May

A long awaited yearbook distribution is set for May 29 at Lompoc Senior High for all students. An assembly will preview the book and staff will present it to the student body with Pacesetters announced. Duplicate receipts are available at P-3, books cost eight dollars, and Taylor Publishing has chosen this year’s edition as the west coast sample book.

Ted Heath: Student Athlete With Multiple Varsity Roles

Ted Heath balances sports and academics as a freshman through junior years, earning varsity letters in football basketball and baseball, and earning honors. He plans to pursue college study after graduation and aims to run for Student Body President next year while remaining active in Lettermans and Key clubs.
