Cadet Ag Teacher to Move From Lompoc High

S A Price Jr a cadet agriculture instructor at Lompoc High since February will leave at term end for a post as agriculture teacher at San Luis Obispo High. He says he enjoyed his work and the community interest in local youth. Price, son of S A Price Sr of Norco, graduated Cal Poly in 1950 with a BS and returned to college in 1955.

Lompoc School Attracts Noted Agriculture Instructor

No. 8 ranked individual joins Lompoc as assistant to agriculture instructor W G Butterfield. He visited nine other schools across five or six counties and praises Lompoc for its equipment. He focuses on agricultural mechanics, welding, and farm machinery maintenance in San Luis Obispo with Jim Williams.

Resolution On Weedy Lots Passed

City council approves posting of weed infested lots and offers owners option to clean up themselves or let the city perform the work with costs assessed to land. Part of a city clean up drive ahead of the Flower Festival with Clean Up Week set for June 11 and city equipment hauling debris to the dump at no charge.

Virginia Lee Larsen known as Ginger, 17, of Santa Maria seeks support to be crowned Elks Rodeo Queen for 1956 on June 2 and 3 in Santa Maria and Lompoc. Beta Sigma Phi sponsors her. she is a junior at Santa Maria Union High School majoring in business.

Juveniles Held In Burglary Case In Santa Barbara

Two juveniles aged 9 and 10 admitted entering Mrs. Nina Hounshell's North I street home and stealing from a piggy bank. Neighbors reported lights on while she was away, and the pair were taken to Santa Barbara Juvenile Hall.

Pool to Open on Memorial Day in Lompoc

Lompoc’s municipal swimming pool will operate on Memorial Day with weekend hours: 2:00 to 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Rainbow for Girls member announced the schedule. She lives with her mother, Margaret Larsen, an employee of S. P. Milling Co., at 211 East Morrison Street. Ginger Larsen began kindergarten in Lompoc and completed fourth grade there. Her father, Charles Larsen, works for Johns Manville Corp.
