County Grangers Meet in Sisquoc

Cradle Cake Tells Reason for Party

A large decorated crack cake centered the buffet table for a party Thursday evening May 10 in the Grange Hall honoring Mrs. Albert Tosti. Hostesses were the Mines. Johnnie Fraters Billy Huyck Ronald Williams Tony Serres Loren Cross and Miss Neva Sechrest.

Granger Charter Draped for Departed Member

At the May 11 Grange meeting led by Master Mary Fairbanks the charter was draped for Ernest Eckert. A Flower Festival Committee read a letter and planned float entry details. Next meeting May 25 will host the San Luis Obispo Degree Team to confer 3rd and 4th degrees. June 8 will be memorial services open to the public conducted by Chaplain Winnie Allen.

Young Couple Leaves for Fort Devens

Sgt and Mrs Frank Spanninger depart Lompoc on May 19 heading to a new Army assignment at Fort Devens Massachusetts. Mrs Spanninger is the former Lillian Nickson daughter of Mr and Mrs John Rodrigues of 405 North F Street. The assignment brings them near Rodrigues family roots and relatives.

Scouts Net Wide Honors at Honor Court

Lompoc Boy Scouts received numerous awards during a Court of Honor held Monday with the PTA. Edwin Larsen chaired the event as master of ceremonies, with Emmett Schuyl er leading the program. Awards covered Troops 63 64 and 62 with Tenderfoot Second Class Star Life and Merit Badges, plus Community Service and Attendance recognitions for many Scouts.

FFA honors recognize community helpers at annual dinner

Earl Calvert and Attilio Rivaldi received degrees for long time help to the local FFA chapter. Francis Beattie Lawrence Huyck and Virgil Phelps organized a barbecue served by home economics students under Elizabeth Canfield and Louise Hunt. The event crowned FFA queen Marilyn Hansen with attendants Vicki Burch Izetta Bishop Carol Hilderbrand and Jeanette Trigueiro.

Jacquemain Campaign Organizes Countywide Effort

The Lompoc Jacquemain for State Senator Committee names Dwight Murphy and Leonard Kummer as co chairs of a county wide drive to elect Arnold W Jacquemain to the State Senate on June 5. The group collaborates with Santa Maria Santa Barbara and Carpinteria committees to contact voters by mail and interview to highlight Jacquemain as a farmer lawyer city councilman and civic leader. Donald Taylor chairs the Santa Maria area committee.
