Rock Club heads to Pt Sal for Saturday field trip

Lompoc Gem and Mineral Club plans a Saturday trip to Point Sal via Gilbert Park with Rudolph Bork geologist guiding on area geology and specimen ID. They expect hornblende gypsum and pyrite, advise egg cartons for carrying finds, and bring lunch. The caravan leaves at 9 30 a m from Clyde Wallace's station near locked gates en route to Guadalupe.

Mrs Grossini Installed as Forest Grand Chief in Sacramento

Mrs. Vincent Virginia Grossini was installed as grand chief companion at the Foresters and Companions of the Forest of America state convention May 14 17 in Sacramento. Delegates Buellton Mrs. Percy Beattie and pro tem grand hostess Mrs. Frank Winter welcomed her with installations and telegrams of congratulation from Lompoc. Members of the local escort team and guests attended the ceremony and reception followed by festival sponsorship from the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce for the Flower Festival stickers and seeds distribution.

Flags Disposal Lesson Highlights DAR May Meeting

Mrs Steve Tucker spoke on proper disposal of unserviceable flags at Captain Henry Sweetser Chapter DAR meeting. Eight American flags and four state flags were retired with flag history notes, attended by Mrs Robert Wetzel and new members Mrs Josephine Sweney and Mrs Ray Cullen. The chapter plans Lom poc and Santa Maria Memorial Day services and urged flag flying on Armed Services and Memorial Day. DAR good citizen award went to Miss Terry Lee Thompson at Cabrillo High School.

Trash Treasure Sale Opens Saturday in Lompoc

First annual trash and treasures sale hosted by Lompoc Valley Historical Society at the Fabing Mackay Spanne home. Doors open 10 a.m. with items on the first floor and yard at L Street and Walnut Ave. Proceeds support restoring the Victorian era home to its 1875 splendor.

Pet Show Winners Highlight Clarence Ruth School PTA Event

The Clarence Ruth School PTA pet show honors many pets in classes from miscellaneous to car division with owners and pets winning ribbons prizes and titles. New officers were inducted for the 1969 70 term and a PTA dues increase to 1 was approved with planning for a sixth grade picnic at Ryan Park.

Ladies Attend AAUW California State Convention

At the May 22 23 gathering in San Francisco Mrs Darrell Adams president of the Lompoc Vandenberg Branch will present a program report and praise is expected for last years membership gains. Spring luncheon at Village Country Club covered convention plans and summer travels. Luncheon chairmen were Mrs Joseph Lasley Mrs T F Paumen and Mrs Jack Parnes with Miss Jean Cooney assisting. Carnations and corsages were provided by members.

Alpha Club Hosts Triple Theme Program in Lompoc

The Lompoc Alpha Club held a three theme program Mothers huts and gardens with a mother of the year chosen Mrs William Bastedo from nominations by Mrs Maynard Steffen. Hats featured in decoration and a millinery march with prizes awarded for most becoming bonnet craziest hat and hat with flags and hobbies. Guest speaker Robert Kallaman of Santa Barbara spoke on making gardening fun emphasizing color low maintenance and planning. The club received a silver bowl for best flower arrangement entry and officers installation is planned for June with a Brides program.
