Lompoc Marlins Sweep San Luis Obispo AAU Meet

Nineteen of thirty two Lompoc Marlins captured 49 awards for 91 points as 500 swimmers from 20 teams, including Los Angeles and San Jose, competed over the weekend. Standouts included Jill Longtin and Nancy Nogle with high point totals, with many swimmers earning top honors in various age groups and relays. The team also announced 25 entrants for the upcoming Sunkist Meet in Reedley. Brooks Recalled By Angels To Replace Injured Valentine

The California Angels called up outfielder Bobby Brooks from Salt Lake City to replace the injured Bobby Valentine on their roster. Brooks, 27, batted .292 with 18 RBIs at Salt Lake City while Valentine will miss at least two months after fracturing two bones in his right leg chasing a home run ball.
