House Approves 1.3 Billion Space Shuttle Funding Bill

Typhoons Pamela and Olga Make Landfall Near Guam and Luzon

Typhoon Pamela struck Guam with 150 mph winds and 10 foot waves washing out a southern highway trapping about 30,000 people. Olga hit Luzon with 87 mph winds and heavy rains causing floods and displacing over 20,000 in Manila area.

Judge ruled not eligible to serve on ALR board

Sacramento. A Santa Clara County judge cannot join the Agricultural Labor Relations Board under constitutional rules. Legislative Counsel George Murphy advised Assemblyman William Thomas that service on the ALRB does not count as a judicial office or employment. Governor Brown had named Judge John T. Racanelli to the board, but the appointment faces constitutional hurdles and has not been formalized. The ALRB has not met due to funding and quorum issues.
