Lockheed to Build Shuttle Insulation Tiles
Lockheed Missiles and Space Co. of Sunnyvale won a Space Shuttle subcontract to fabricate high temperature reusable surface insulation for the orbiter. Rockwell Space Division announced the award with peak funding around 8 million dollars, covering tiles for areas facing 650 to 2300 degrees Fahrenheit.

Assemblyman Crown Killed While Jogging in Alameda
Assemblyman Robert Crown of Alameda, 51, died from injuries after being struck by a car while jogging in a crosswalk late Sunday. Vehicle traffic halted briefly and another car driven by Charles E. Shuler Jr. ran around it to hit Crown. Shuler received a citation at the scene. Crown, a Democrat, was elected to the Assembly in 1966 and previously worked as an Assembly reading clerk.

Rankin, First Woman in Congress, Dies at 92

Wet Bet a lanky green frog from a Concord farm won the 45th Calaveras County Jumping Frog Jubilee in Angels Camp California leaping 17 feet 4 and earning 300 for owners Bill Proctor and Leonard Hall. The duo have sent nine winners to the event in 16 years as they guard a creek bed source and maintain a large frog stable for competition.

A federal jury cleared 17 defendants known as the Camden 28 of all charges stemming from the Aug 21, 1971 raid on the Camden draft office.
