Record crowds attend La Purisima Mission Fiesta
An estimated 12 000 to 15 000 people packed the La Purisima Mission grounds for the 32nd Fiesta. About 5 700 vehicles inside the park and 300 to 400 outside filled the area as the day featured a mass, St Anthony's Choir, a noon flag-raising, free lunch for about 10 000, 21 exhibits, and a children’s parade. Officials including Lt Gov Reinecke and State Parks leaders praised the event, while talks at the advisory committee discussed overnight camping and a master plan for the mission’s 900 acres of public use.
