Camp Fire Girls announce summer camp schedule and tours
Registration is open for Camp Fire Girls day camp with sessions at Miguelito Park and Ken Adam Park in June plus a teen program Summer Discovery. Fees are 5 dollars for members and 6 for non members. Overnight trips to Gaviota Beach and Cachuma Pool are planned. Information and forms are available at the Camp Fire Office.

Elizabeth Marie Heredia and Fernando Felipe Guzman exchanged vows May 6 at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church Santa Maria. Father Gerald McCloud officiated. The couple, both locals, were joined by family, friends, and a reception at Grange Hall with music by Los Alegres and a rock group. The bride is a 1969 Lompoc High School graduate, plans Allan Hancock College. The groom is a Vietnam veteran and Union Sugar employee. They reside in Santa Maria after a San Diego honeymoon.

Baptism Reception For George Family Children
On Saturday evening May 6 the George children Dawn Michelle age 20 months and Eddie Wayne age 2 months received the sacrament of baptism at La Purisima Catholic Church. Father J F Gearan officiated. Dawn Michele's godparents are Miss Carol Diaz and Jack Baucom. Eddie Wayne's godparents are Mr and Mrs Richard Diaz. A reception followed at 308 East Lemon Ave hosted by Carl George, the children's paternal grandfather. Guests included Harold Doran Wayne Ables and Ron Harris.

Peace Rose Exhibit Preserved by Experiment at Museum
A six inch Peace rose, picked in full bloom on May 5, is under glass at the Lompoc Museum in a suspended animation display. The flower, treated with light and mineral oil by Gauss Scientific Society, is kept to appear alive and may inspire future displays at the Alpha Club flower show on June 24.
