George Wallace Paralyzed From Wound In Maryland Attack
Reports from Holy Cross hospital in Silver Spring say Governor George Wallace is paralyzed from the waist down by a bullet wound but could improve. Surgeons warned permanent paralysis remains possible as Wallace campaigns under care after the Laurel Plaza shooting. The alleged gunman Arthur Bremer, 21, of Milwaukee, was held in federal custody.

Space shuttle fly by wire test planned at Edwards AFB
NASA officials said the first flight test of a fly by wire digital control system will use a modified F8 Crusader at Edwards AFB. Civilian test pilot Fary E. Krier will fly the craft at up to 425 mph and 20 000 feet as the system backs electronic controls with three analog channels.
