Senate to seek partial immunity for Dean in Watergate hearings

The Senate Watergate committee voted unanimously to ask courts for partial immunity for John W. Dean, shielding him from prosecution for testimony given to the panel. A second immunity order was sought for an unnamed witness, Roy Sheppard, whose role remains unspecified. Dean, 34, has discussed immunity with his lawyers. he told a Washington Star News interview he does not expect his testimony to topple the President. The committee plans to question Sheppard as a new, unidentified witness connected to the Nixon campaign document case.

Nixon backs six year single term proposal
