New Santa Barbara judge to take bench this week

Santa Barbara County names Jon Gudmunds as its second municipal judge after Governor Reagan appointed him this week. The ex deputy district attorney will be sworn in today by Superior Court Judge Marion A. Smith and brings prior law, Navy Reserve service, and family ties to the position.

Cardiovascular Lectures Planned In Santa Maria Series Opens

Early registration urged for the first in a series of cardiovascular disease lectures for physicians to be held May 22 in the Dorothea Nelson Room at the Santa Maria Public Library. Nixon hosts officials to shape Mansfield troop plan

President Nixon summoned department officials and retired generals to the White House to map a response to Senator Mansfield's plan to withdraw 150000 U.S. troops from Europe by December 31. Mrs. Victor Alves leads a group from Catholic Daughters and Alpha Club in preparing meals for guests. Local clubs including Lompoc Community Women's Club and the Chamber of Commerce assist with hostesses and logistics. An outdoor art exhibit, fresh flower distribution, and Red Cross First Aid, traffic control by American Legion Post 211 and Boy Scouts are planned.
