Sixth Grade Ecology Camp Leaves for Cachuma Lake
Fifty-eight sixth graders from La Canada School and two teachers depart Sunday for a weeklong federally aided ecology camp at Cachuma Lake. The $29 per student cost is funded by a $600 federal grant, $12.50 per pupil, and $357 raised locally through magazine sales aluminum can and paper drives and snack sales.

UCSB Coed Dies After Eight Gunshot Wounds
Karen Ann Signore a 21 year old UCSB student from Isla Vista died after being shot eight times and left on a Montecito area country road. William Richardson said he found her conscious and that she had been hitchhiking before the attack. She was taken to a Santa Barbara hospital for emergency surgery. Her parents reside in Bonita near San Diego.

Library board budget and personnel changes in Santa Barbara area
The Library Board added 4711 dollars in county per capita funds raising the 1971-72 budget to 173775 dollars.
