Beckie Zeigler 2:25.9 in the 880 led valley performances along with Karen Ledgerwood 2:30.9. The club will host an invitational on May 29 and next compete at the Ventura Invitational.

Mark Donohue of Media, Pennsylvania posted an unofficial 177.340 mph in early May practice for the Indianapolis 900 mile race at the 242 mile oval. Mario Andretti raised his best to 174.250 mph, while Johnny Rutherford and Loyd Ruby joined the 170 mph club alongside Donohue during the busiest practice day.

Cabrillo Girls Take Third at Cal Poly Invite

Cabrillo High School girls track sent six athletes to the Cal Poly Invitational and earned third place among 11 teams. The Conquistadore 440 relay team of Bruneau, Carter, Burrell, and Meyer won in 53.7 seconds. Carter was runner up in shot put and 220, Burrell claimed two thirds in shot and 50 yard dash, Meyer took second in 880 and high jump fifth, House finished second in the mile, Hobbs placed third in 50 yard hurdles, with the team narrowly missing a second by 3.5 points.
