Lompoc Vistas section seeks local well known figures

The Lompoc Record plans a 1973 Flower Festival Vistas tabloid with stories and photos of past and present Lompoc personalities. Candidates include Gin Chow the weather prophet Nick Carter Olympic participant William Zvolanek developer of the multiflora sweetpea and local figures Wilkerson Dimock and Henry Alter. Eight Teachers to be Honored at Lompoc Dinner

The Lompoc Education Association will honor eight teachers at its annual retirement dinner. Named are Lillian Johnson Juliet Huffstutler Agnes Hamilton Halda Marshall Marjorie Hearne Ladd Laughbon Phyllis Smart and Anna Jane LaVigne who retired last summer. Two Suspects Charged In Stop and Go Market Robbery

Steven Janes 23 and Robert Henderson 21 were jailed in Lompoc facing armed robbery charges for the Stop and Go Market theft at 105 North W St. Police say the duo, from the local area, were arrested after a deputy and officer halted their car in the 400 block of East Pine Avenue, seizing a .45 pistol a .357 magnum ammo and stolen cash and cigarettes.

Lompoc District Board to Discuss State Soil Actions Next Week

The Lompoc Resource Conservation District will hold a regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the district office at 1515 E Chestnut Ave to discuss state soil commission actions. The meeting is scheduled for next Wednesday. Local reports note community gardening and college activities on campus including an organic garden event and scholarship dance details.
