Schuyler Sprague Wedding at Nevada Chapel

The double ring ceremony was performed by Reverend Smith. Sgts. Robert Armstrong and Allen Tobias of Camp Pendleton served as attendants. The bride wore a white afternoon dress and the groom a Marine dress uniform. The bride, a Lompoc High School graduate, will graduate in June from Knapp College of Nursing in Santa Barbara. the groom serves a three year tour with the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton.

Rainbow Installation Public Invited by Lompoc Rainbow

Public invited to Lompoc Assembly No 106 Order of Rainbow for Girls installation at 8:00 p m May 12 in the I C C F Hall. Installing officers include Mrs Mona Merriam hostess Mrs Helen Schuyler Mother Advisor Dolly Freiley Worthy Advisor Lynne Showers and Joanne Beattie Marshals Irene Howerton Recorder Judy Collier Chaplain and Mrs Sue Godden Musician. Soloist Miss Pauline Martin will perform. Ceremonies will be followed by a reception.

Special Award for Jr Alpha Babies in California District

The Lompoc Junior Alpha Club won the special baby award in their district as part of the Build a Better Community contest. Over 195 clubs entered 18 fields. the group of 55 members received a $25 certificate for 17 babies, to be presented next year due to a scheduling conflict.

Poppy Day Plans Underway In Veterans Hospitals

Poppy production for Poppy Day in May is underway in veterans hospitals and convalescent rooms nationwide. Mrs. William Proud of the Lompoc American Legion Auxiliary cites thousands of disabled veterans employed, with materials supplied by state auxiliaries and pay for the work. Poppies are made at the San Fernando Veteran Hospital under California Auxiliary supervision, with a 1956 order already placed for Lompoc.

Mothers Day Supper at Grange Hall Planned

Local Grangers schedule Mothers Day Supper and Breakfast for Saturday May 12 at the Grange Hall with 6 30 to 8 p m service. Jim Allen chairs the event with committees for cooking reception biscuits pick up and serving. Also announced are a Grange meeting Friday May 11 and Home Ec Group gathering May 17.

Girl Athletes Enjoy Play Day Across Two Cities

Members of the GAA led by Helen Huyck and advisors Virginia Beavers and Luella Sabin organized play-day outings in Carpenteria and Santa Maria. Lompoe earned second in volleyball and basketball in Carpenteria and third in points in Santa Maria on May 5. Other schools from Arroyo Grande Paso Robles Atascadero and Santa Maria joined for a luncheon and recreational swim at the Santa Maria school. about 18 Lompoe girls participated.

Laura Cautrell fiancée of John Sterns was feted at a May 7 shower hosted in Kenneth Stillman’s Miguelito Canyon home. The spring showers theme featured parasol decor, an alarm clock game guiding gift groups, and refreshments of cookies tea and coffee. NCO Wives Club Plans Future Meetings and Fashion Show

Mrs. Tina Lauderdale led the NCO Wives Club business session on May 8 at the NCO Clubhouse. Proposals for future activities and a possible fashion show were discussed. Refreshments were served. Next meeting is June 12. At an April social, Mrs. Robert Lewis won the most original crazy hats prize, Mrs. Frank Dacy wore the prettiest hat, and Mrs. N. Ross had the funniest.

Red Cross Director Addresses USDB Officers' Wives

The Officer's Wives' Club at the Branch USDB hosted a luncheon with Jerry J. Gutman Red Cross Field Director giving an informal talk on group adjustment and the role of SDR personnel in aiding it. He discussed art therapy and his psychology background.
