The open house runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mayor pro-tem Charlotte Benton proclaimed the day and urged citizens to visit the station to inspect apparatus and equipment. Graveside services were held at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery for the infant daughter of Sgt. and Mrs. James McDonald of Vandenberg AFB. The child died Monday at Vandenberg AFB Hospital. McPeek Funeral Home managed arrangements.

Cabrillo High School drama remains in show after high attendance. Davis-Monthan AFB Arizona won Best Titan Wing after a tight finish in the 1970 Strategic Air Command Missile Combat Competition. McConnell and Little Rock wings followed. Grefco strike mediation fails in Los Angeles
Federal mediation efforts over the Grefco Inc strike by International Union of District 50 Allied and Technical Workers failed yesterday in Los Angeles. 108 hourly employees are on strike, shutting the local plant. union members voted to strike after failing to ratify a contract last Thursday. Pickets line the site as Lompoc Valley Trucking employees refuse to cross the picket line. Ed Hauenstein said 99 percent of business is with Grefco, but the plant closure halts usable material anyway.
