President Nixon announced a new Phase III move freezing most beef pork and lamb prices at the 30 day high with farmers exempted and the rest of the food industry covered. He warned the measure would stay until the job is done as lawmakers criticized the policy and the April Fool's Week meat boycott loomed.
Assemblyman W. Don MacGillivray introduced a bill to override a Health Planning Council edict and push a 74 bed convalescent facility in Lompoc toward construction. Delays persist over new earthquake standards and cost escalations potentially adding about 360000 to the Hickory Avenue expansion.
