Beach reopenings set for Easter week at two state beaches
Gaviota State Beach will reopen for camp use tomorrow and Refugio State Beach is scheduled to reopen April 13 for Easter vacation week. State Parks official Pat Dougherty said closures were due to water supply and sewer repairs and general camp and beach renovations. Campsites will be first come first served at both beaches.

Final group of POWs arrive in the Philippines
The last 67 American prisoners of war were released from North Vietnam, completing the release of 604 POWs after the Vietnam War ended. At Gia Lam airport, Lt. Cmdr. Alfred Agnew led the procession home to Clark Air Base. One more POW, Army Capt. Robert White, was still acknowledged as held by the Vietcong.

UPI reports farmers and consumer groups escalate a meat price protest. Protesters mailed 20 pound sticks of baloney to President Nixon and Governor Reagan and urged an April 17 meat boycott.
